Washington, DC, December 15, 2022 – Yesterday evening, Jonathan C. Shoemaker participated on a panel discussion, “Death by 1,000 RFIs: Managing Risk During the Construction Administration Phase,” with Matthew Daw of Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger and Lauren Martin of Ames and Gough for the Structural Engineers Association – Metropolitan Washington. During the course of a wide-ranging discussion addressing the risks presented to structural engineers by the RFI process, the panelists discussed common types of claims resulting from the RFI process, options for addressing misuse/abuse of the RFI process, and strategies for mitigating potential exposure to the risks associated with the RFI process.
