April 16, 2026, Washington, DC – In a Mock Jury Trial presented to at the Spring 2026 a/e ProNet Conference, Jonathan C. Shoemaker of Lee/Shoemaker PLLC obtained a defense verdict in a claim by a public owner of a wastewater treatment facility against the architect (represented by Jonathan), and its structural engineering and civil engineering consultants (represented by several other associate members of a/e ProNet), following what one jury member described as a “killer cross examination” by Jonathan. The Mock Jury Trial allowed the membership of a/e ProNet and underwriters from 12 of the largest professional liability insurance carriers for design professionals the opportunity to observe first-hand opening statements, witness examination, and closing statements to appreciate more fully the roller-coaster experience that design professionals go through when a case goes to trial.
